As part of the presentation of Czech architecture in the European context, two consecutive events took place in Brussels, both linked to the launch of the publication Czech Modern Architecture and the accompanying exhibition of the same name.
The official publication launch was held in the afternoon at the European Parliament under the patronage of MEP Klára Dostálová. The guests were welcomed by Klára Dostálová herself, who emphasized the significance of Czech architecture in Europe. At the exhibition opening, former UIA President Thomas Vonier spoke alongside the Mayor of Prague 6, Jakub Stárek, who highlighted the model exhibition of the functionalist Baba estate. The concluding remarks were delivered by Professor Vladimír Šlapeta, who expressed his gratitude to all collaborators. A symbolic gesture during the event was the handing over of the publication to the MEP.
In the evening, the program continued at the Prague House in Brussels, where Professor Šlapeta outlined the main stages in the development of Czech architecture. He drew attention to important works not only in Prague, Brno, and Zlín but also in other regions of the country, including the Sudetenland. The director of the Prague House, Lucie Čadilová, opened the lecture, followed by a presentation by Thomas Vonier on the international significance of Czech architecture. The highlight of the evening was the screening of unique historical footage from the Müller Villa and a 1935 recording from Zlín, capturing a jury session of the international housing competition attended by Le Corbusier, František Lydie Gahura, Vladimír Karfík, Dušan Jurkovič, Pavel Janák, Bohuslav Fuchs, and Tomáš Baťa.
