Architecture Week Ostrava 2011 | 18.05.2010
Third international festival of modern and contemporary architecture will take place in Ostrava in April 4-28, 2011. It is organized by Czech Architecture Week Company together with the Society for Ostrava Culture (SPOK) and in cooperation with embassies and cultural institutions of many countries and with the support of other partners.
Czech and foreign architects will present themselves through exhibitions, lectures, seminars, architectural walks and open days. Also once again an attractive project of street gallery by SPOK called Archi Street Ostrava will be present.
The main partner of this event is Raiffesen-Leasing Real Estate which supports the festival both in Prague and in Ostrava since their foundation in 2007 and 2009.
The organizers are also preparing 3rd Arch Works Ostrava 2011 exhibition which will be focused on presentation of the works of architects and architectural studios from the whole CR.
The festival will again take place on various sites all over Ostrava. Detailed program will be published on website www.architectureweek.cz.
Like last year a coloured catalogue as well as Archi Street Map 2011 and a festival guide will be published for the festival all in accordance with the main theme which is to be announced.
Official opening of the festival will be within the exhibition Arch Works Prague 2010, Mánes, October 4-17, 2010 which is a part of the 4th international festival of modern and contemporary architecture Architecture Week Prague 2010. In cooperation with Ostrava City Hall and Moravian-Silesian Region we are preparing special presentation which will be placed among other cities from CR and all over the world.
Czech Architecture Week is also co-organizer of exhibition kaVÁRNA OSTRAVA!!!, which is a part of presentation of Ostrava culture in Prague in July 13th- September 12th, 2010, Mánes (Masarykovo náběží 250, Prague 1).
Ostrava in Prague is so far the largest complex of events that will present Ostrava and its cultural potential as well as the project for European Capital of Culture 2015 competition. The City of Ostrava, Moravian-Silesian Region and Vítkovice company prepared fundamental project for renovation of cultural infrastructure in Ostrava. A new cultural district will emerge – Cluster Černá louka with new concert hall, municipal gallery, creative incubator and schools. All that in a green valley next to the river. This interesting project will be displayed at the exhibition kaVÁRNA OSTRAVA!!!
In Vítkovice, next to the industrial heritage monuments there will be a big congress hall and many other projects.
